Hi Phuong, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Jena & Phuong

I grew up in Alhambra but have lived in San Gabriel for over 25 years.    I received my dual B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Biology and had completed my M.S. degree in Regulatory Science.  I am currently the Director of Quality Operations for a pharmaceutical company that manufactures sterile injectable products for hemophilic patients.  One of my primary job functions is to ensure the company is operating within the FDA requirements and any other regulatory requirements where our products are sold worldwide.

What classes do you take and what got you interested?

My husband and I take the Jiu-Jitsu class on Saturday morning.  I got into Jiu-Jitsu because I want to have something in common with my kids, who are also in the Jiu-Jitsu Saturday morning class for kids.

How long have you been training and what is your current belt rank?

I have been training for almost 7 months and I currently have a white belt with one strip.

What is your favorite part of the Jiu-Jitsu class?

I like the entire schedule of the Jiu-Jitsu class from warming up to sparring time.

Do you have a favorite Jiu-Jitsu technique?

The technique that I come to me quite naturally was the closed guard armbar.

What current and future goals do you have?

My current goal is to get myself more active.  My future goal is to be able to stay healthy and lose weight.

Is there anything else that you would like to share with us?

I really like the family feel at Silanoe and the way Professor Gino teaches the class.   I always feel welcome there and be part of the training team.
