Hi Sasha, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Sasha Gracia. I am 12 years old, almost 13, and what do I NOT do? I participate in theater and numerous sports, but besides that, I love playing rock music, doing Jiu-Jitsu, and chewing bubble gum ( though I often find myself all out of bubble gum:))

When did you start training Jiu-Jitsu and how often do you come to class?

I started practicing Jiu-Jitsu when I was 4 years old, and I strive to come to class at least 2 times a week, if not 3.

Why did you start training Jiu-Jitsu?

I started jiu-jitsu because it’s important for a girl to know how to take care of herself.

What do you like most about Jiu-Jitsu class?

My favorite thing about jiu-jitsu is that it is a safe space. I can channel all my negative emotions and turn them into something useful and positive, and I feel like I’m a different person on the mat. I feel more confident and sure of myself.

What do you like most about Professor Gino’s teachings?

I love learning under Professor Gino because he makes me feel welcome, even though I transferred here two years ago. He cares about my progress and makes sure that I am pushed to my very best.

Questions for Sasha’s dad Bryan

What improvements have you noticed in Sasha since she’s been doing Jiu-Jitsu?

I have noticed so many positive developments with Sasha since she’s been studying Jiu-Jitsu. Her self-confidence has grown. She treats everyone with respect that she has learned on the mats. And her skills in jiu-jitsu have markedly improved since she has been under Professor Gino’s tutelage.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Professor Gino is a great coach. He’s exceptional at taking complex jiu-jitsu concepts and breaking them down into learnable components that my daughter has can grasp and apply. More importantly, Professor Gino is an all-around class act.

Sasha’s dad Bryan has seen an improvement in his daughter’s self-confidence. He also notices that Sasha treats everyone with the respect she has learned on the mats training Jiu-Jitsu. Sasha is in our Kids 2 program and will move up soon to our Adults/Teens Fundamentals program.
