Similar to Jiu-Jitsu, our Submission Wrestling No Gi Grappling at Silanoe Martial Arts is a martial art mainly focuses on leverage. The aim is to control and force the opponent to submit without throwing any strikes. By the usage of body movement, control and the application of pressure the opponent is forced to ‘tap out’.
Submission Wrestling No Gi Grappling contains techniques of multiple disciples such as Jiu-Jitsu Wrestling, Judo and Sambo.
A difference with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that Submission Grappling allows more holds and techniques. Another main difference is that a practitioner does not wear a Jiu-Jitsu uniform. All one needs is shorts, rashguard or shirt. At Silanoe Martial Arts we do recommend wearing a longsleeve rashguard, shorts and compression spats.
Submission Wrestling No Gi Grappling has been gaining mass popularity because of certain promotions. The main ones are: the ADCC or Abu Dhabi Combat Club. It is the most prestigious No Gi Grappling competition in the world annually held in Abu Dhabi. A different one is EBI or Eddie Bravo Invitational. In addition, No Gi Grappling is one of the most important disciplines if someone want to compete in Mixed Martial Arts promotions such as: Bellator, UFC or ONE.
