Competition Team Questions, Answered
Is Competition Team training safe for my child?
Yes. Safety is always the priority. Training is supervised by experienced instructors and focuses on controlled drilling, proper technique, respect for training partners, and age-appropriate intensity.
Does my child have to compete in tournaments right away?
Joining the Competition Team does not require immediate tournament participation. Children can benefit from the extra training and decide together with the head kids instructor whether to compete when they feel ready.
How do you know if a child is ready for competition training?
Readiness is based on more than athletic ability. We look for consistent effort, listening skills, safe training habits, emotional maturity, and a willingness to learn at the child’s individual pace. Enrollment is coordinated with our Head Kids Instructor, who will help determine the best fit for your child
What character skills can my child gain from Competition Team?
Beyond Jiu-Jitsu technique, children practice accountability, perseverance, confidence, focus, humility, and respect. These are skills that support them on the mats, at school, and at home.
Can beginners join the Competition Team?
Children should first have a foundation in regular Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. From there, our instructors can help determine when focused competition training is an appropriate next step.
What does competition training add to regular kids BJJ classes?
Competition Team sessions provide additional practice time for technique refinement, live situational training, tournament rules, mental preparation, and goal-setting with experienced instructor mentorship.
