Submission Wrestling/No Gi Grappling
Submission Wrestling / No-Gi Grappling Classes in San Gabriel
Similar to Jiu-Jitsu, our Submission Wrestling No-Gi Grappling at Silanoe Martial Arts is a martial art that focuses on leverage and control. The goal is to submit your opponent—without strikes—by using movement, pressure, and technique to force a tap out.
A Blend of Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, and Sambo
Our No-Gi program draws from multiple disciplines including Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, and Sambo. Compared to traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Grappling allows a wider variety of holds and techniques. No uniform (gi) is worn — just shorts and a rashguard. For safety and hygiene, we recommend wearing a long-sleeve rashguard, shorts, and compression spats.
Why No-Gi Grappling Is Growing Fast
No-Gi Grappling has seen a rise in popularity, fueled by major events like the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club), the most prestigious No-Gi competition in the world. Other events like EBI and ACBJJ also contribute to its growth. It’s especially important in MMA, forming a core part of the training for UFC, Bellator, and ONE fighters.

“I’ve been coming here for about ~6 months now. I’ve had no prior training, and this the first gym I’ve been to. I was hesitant to start BJJ in general because I was intimidated and nervous of the preconceived notion I had about gyms goers with egos or something to prove. A good friend recommended Silanoe and said it was such a welcoming and safe environment to train at. He said there was lots of camaraderie and genuine desire to improve themselves and collaboratively help others improve too.
I cannot stress how right my friend was. Professor Gino is an excellent instructor and the environment he fosters in the gym is truly authentic and welcoming. A stark contrast from some of the corporate style gyms.”
